Book Design - App Design

In response to the prompt of designing a guide to Athens utilizing both digital and print deliverables, our team created an interactive guide to get new UGA students involved in the greater Athens community. We utilized chance-based games to eliminate choice paralysis when it comes to finding food spots, indoor activities, and outdoor activities.

Our research found that there was a significant lack of tools that linked UGA students to the greater Athens community. We also found that while people responded well to chance-based activities, users still desired an element of control on their end.

I acted as a part of the print team and was responsible for packaging, game design, flowing of content, type setting, and transition page design. I also aided in the initial style selection, content curation, and printing/binding production.

By using a playful “older sibling” tone, both through visual language and written components, we created a welcoming deliverable that allows students to join the Athens community, instead of living in the UGA bubble.

The print medium will be distributed to new UGA students when they get their student IDs, and will lead them to our app.

The app helps simplify navigation and spatially relates our recommendations to key campus areas that they are familiar with.
