HIRAETH

Having lived in 11 houses from birth to age 18, I’ve never known how to answer the question of where I’m from. In this constant state of change, one thing always remained: the warmth and familiarity of the interior of our houses. While the exterior and location of home was always altered, the furniture and textiles that we collected stayed with us and brought comfort to the unfamiliar.

In this project I visualized the concrete details surrounding my many homes, and recontextualized them into an interior application. The textiles breathe new life into a topic that is typically devoid of emotion and gives me the opportunity to make the facts tangible so they can stay with me as I go.
